TEPCO Slides Waiver Clause Into Compensation Forms
TEPCO, in yet another dodgy move, has tucked a clause into compensation applications. This clause says residents must renounce their right to file objections after they have received payments. The TEPCO application is for the time frame of March to August. The clause could potentially prevent future lawsuits over larger compensation claims or to dispute the amount of this initial payment. People also do not know their total damages from the disaster yet as so many things are not yet determined. Issues such as the future of businesses, ability to move home or future illnesses will take years, possibly decades to determine. The local government in Iitate is informing residents of the clause.
