TEPCO Claims Landowners Are Responsible For Contamination Clean Up

TEPCO claims landowners are responsible for contamination clean up
Laughable? Shocking? Insane? Maybe all three.

A TEPCO lawyer made the claim as part of the court case brought against TEPCO by golf course owners for damages to their business. Luckily the judge rejected the idea.
The idea that landowners should be responsible for cleaning up the mess TEPCO distributed all over a good swath of Japan has not gone over well with the public either. It has been quickly spreading across twitter and other social networks today. The property in question is the radioisotopes spewed from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. This debris originated from the nuclear fuel owned by TEPCO. The TEPCO lawyer handling the case also tried to dismiss extremely high radiation readings as being inaccurate. Some areas of the course were as high as the area 2.4km from the plant complex.

The golf course case is one of the first that will test the liability of TEPCO related to disaster losses.  The outcome could set a major precedent for future lawsuits against TEPCO. The only known fact right now is that TEPCO employs at least one lawyer with absolutely no shame.
