Global Conference For Nuclear Power Free World To Be Held In Yokohama
Less than a year since the Fukushima nuclear disaster, an international conference to discuss the reality of nuclear power is being held.
The conference is backed by a number of groups including Greenpeace and a list of sponsor including Patagonia.
From the conference website, the objectives:
“To communicate a message from Japan: We must learn from Fukushima, exchange lessons about nuclear power from around the world and make clear the need to break away from nuclear power.
To propose action plans: We will bring together ideas from around the globe and propose action plans that can be carried out by Japan and other countries all over the world.
To discover kinds of action that can be taken: We will provide a venue where people can learn about actions we can take in daily life, and where new ideas and projects will be created and exchanged.”
There will be workshops, sessions and time for self organized events so attending groups can share information.
Since the Fukushima disaster international direct communication about nuclear power issues has grown exponentially. We have seen people from all over the world share their knowledge online. This conference could be the catalyst to a more powerful and coordinated international push to end nuclear power generation.
