Mitsubishi Knew San Onofre Steam Generator Had Cracks Before It Shipped.

Mitsubishi knew the steam generator for San Onofre that failed recently had cracks in it before it shipped to the US.

The article doesn’t detail if there was some sort of “within tolerences” level for cracks or if this would have been cause to not use the unit. The unit was later found to have a failed process used to prepare the pipe ends. The other unit at San Onofre had the same problem. Could the cracks have been a warning sign of the improper end installation? Mitsubishi isn’t saying.
