TEPCO Signs Deal With Sanrio For New Water Park & Health Spa
TEPCO has signed a deal with Hello Kitty purveyor Sanrio on an indoor water park and health spa at the former Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.
Dr. James Conca, advisor on the project proclaimed it the best re-use of the site as he spoke with reporters at TEPCO’s most recent press conference.
When asked if this was unsafe Dr. Conca proclaimed radioactive cesium is just like eating potato chips.
Unit’s 5 and 6 will be turned into a pair of indoor water parks co-branded with Sanrio and their character Hello Kitty. Units 3 and 4 will be transitioned into outdoor onsen spas. Dr. Conca proclaimed the health benefits of radiation therapy as it was once popular in the early 1900’s. “Radium springs, spent fuel pools, all the same, if a little radium will improve your health just think what a high dose of cesium could do!”
TEPCO representatives explained the cost savings in not tearing down the plants and that reuse would see a better return for shareholders. Parliamentary secretary Yasuhiro Sonoda will be on hand for opening day to drink the pool water to prove it is safe. TEPCO provided two concept photos of the soon to be completed project below.
If you have not already guessed this is an April Fools joke.
Germany did turn a nuclear plant into an amusement park. Kalkar was never operated so no nuclear fuel was on site.
It was purchased by a developer and turned into an amusement park.
