Kawauchi Village Farmers Switch To Hydroponic Growing

Kawauchi village in Fukushima has decided to switch to hydroponic growing to replace some of the lost farming industry in the town. A nearby Yamaguchi University and SDK Technology have agreed to work with the community to develop the facilities needed.

The facility uses deep well water and LED lighting to create a system closed off from the environment to enable growing of clean crops. The facility will grow lettuce and herbs.
