TEPCO Declares Rain To Be Highly Radioactive
In a TEPCO press release they cited a valve leak at the H9 tank farm.
The said the water had a reading of 0.005mSV/h (γ- and β ray, 70μm dose equivalent rate)
Cesium-134: 430Bq/L
Cesium-137: 580Bq/L
All-β: 1,100Bq/L
Because this water was considerably lower than most of the RO water being held in the tank TEPCO declared this to be rainwater. If the rain at the plant contains radiation so high that it violates government water standards there is a mighty big problem at the plant. Or TEPCO is making up random excuses for problems yet again.
