New Fukushima Daiichi Robot Uses Electric Car Technology

MHI_supergiraffe_robotThe Mitsubishi Super Giraffe (MARS C) uses a car battery set up from the companies i-Mi-Ev car. The robot has an extendable arm to reach high, tight locations.

The robot has been planned for use at Fukushima Daiichi. TEPCO has not released any reports of its use yet.

NEDO worked on the development of this robot and some of the others in use at the disaster site. Specs for the robot can be found here.
