SimplyInfo.Org Zeolite Plan To Be Tested At Fukushima Daiichi

flyoverNHK is reporting that the government task force and TEPCO will implement one of our submitted ideas at the plant. The underground zeolite wall strategy we submitted to IRID will be given a trial near the waste water tanks on the hill that have been leaking high amounts of strontium 90.

A 20 meter deep hole will be dug and filled with zeolite to test the ability of the material to absorb the strontium 90 leaked into the groundwater. One of the main concerns has been how salt content would impact the zeolite’s ability to absorb the strontium 90 effectively. This test section should give a good experiment using some of the worst water at the plant.
