4 Trillion Becquerels Released Over 4 Hours From Unit 3 During Demolition

Yahoo News is reporting that over a 4 hour period of demolition work on unit 3 in August 2013, 4 trillion becquerels of contamination were disbursed into the air. Monitoring stations at Futaba, Namie and at the plant were used to make the estimate. It was estimated that a radiation rate of .04 bq/cm was deposited on nearby lands. Plant monitoring for the related dates at Fukushima Daiichi didn’t show significant changes to the monitoring posts. So far there has been no explanation how such a massive release could happen at the plant without drastically changing the monitoring posts on site.
