Constitutional Amendment Protests Break Out In Tokyo After Man Sets Himself On Fire

Huge protests broke out in Tokyo today after a man set himself on fire in protest of the current effort by the Abe Administration to remove from Japan’s constitution the renunciation of war. Article 9 of Japan’s post war constitution bars the country from waging war on another country. Even with considerable opposition from the public, the Abe administration has pushed for the constitutional change. The man’s condition isn’t currently known after the incident on Sunday.

Today, protests in Tokyo continued into the night with large rather loud crowds. A number of photos showed on twitter and IWJ has been live streaming the protests (link has auto-play video)

Some photos collected from twitter within the last hour.
