Fukushima Unit 5 Reactor Temperature Rises
TEPCO’s statements earlier this week that they would use a back and forth method of cooling the spent fuel pool by sharing the reactor cooling system appears to be underway. The reactor temperature has risen 12 degrees Celsius since July 8th. Spent fuel temperature rose but fell down closer to normal over the same time frame. While these changes are not alarming they do warrant close monitoring to assure they are staying within safe ranges until the final repair is made to the main system. TEPCO has still given no repair plan or completion date for the failed valve.
