ALPS 2.0 Begins Test Operations At Fukushima Daiichi
The new and improved version of ALPS has begun test operations. TEPCO announced the first of the two units has begun test operations. The second will go into testing mode in October. These new units build on the lessons learned from the ongoing failures of the initial ALPS systems. Better materials, coatings and safety systems have been used to try to overcome the problems found in the original units.
TEPCO hopes to be able to treat a total of 1500 tons of water per day once the new units come online.
