Radiation Jump Near Leaking Tank At Fukushima Daiichi
TEPCO is reporting a large jump in radiation near a leaking tank at Fukushima Daiichi. Near the H4 tank farm, site of a major high radiation leak last year has seen an abrupt spike in contamination found in ground water monitoring wells nearby.
The E1 well saw radiation levels rise from 750 bq/liter (beta radiation) on Oct 5th to 95,000 bq/liter on Oct 7th.
TEPCO thinks this may be due to rains from the typhoon that passed near the plant over the same time period but has not completely confirmed this or the exact mechanism for such an abrupt change.
