Fukushima Unit 3 Fuel Crane Removed From Spent Fuel Pool

unit3_FHM_removal_150802_02TEPCO successfully removed the fuel handling crane from the spent fuel pool on August 2nd amid problems with fog. The work began around 11am where crane could be seen working in the pool. The machine was finally pulled and set on the ground around 1:18pm JST. The work was already challenging and high risk without adding fog into the complexity. TEPCO didn’t report any problems, they also did not say what would happen to the crane now that it was brought to the ground or where it would be stored.

Other work at the plant was suspended while this took place in case there was a radiation release in the process.
