Russia Wants To Reprocess Fuel From Fukushima Daiichi

Russia has expressed interest in reprocessing the large amounts of spent fuel from Fukushima Daiichi at their Mayak nuclear site. By 2017 their facility would be capable of reprocessing “western” design nuclear fuel. That would include the boiling water reactor style fuel used at Fukushima Daiichi.

Russia recently won a contract to do research work on a tritium removal system for Fukushima Daiichi. They have also expressed interest in working with Japan on nuclear power export projects.
