Fukushima Ice Wall To Begin Freezing Early March
TEPCO should begin freezing the sea side of the ice wall in early March according to Asahi Shimbun. That should take roughly two and a half months. TEPCO cited a total of about eight months to freeze the entire ice wall. This indicates they may make a pause after freezing the sea side to check for unwanted changes to the contaminated groundwater near the reactors. TEPCO has been routinely reporting data on the ice wall system so we will be monitoring this along with the groundwater data for any changes as the process takes place.
