Taiwan Continues Fukushima Food Ban
Japan has asked Taiwan in recent months via diplomatic channels to re-open food imports from five prefectures impacted by the Fukushima disaster.
At an annual meeting between the two countries Taiwan refused to discuss the issue saying it was not on the agenda of the meeting. There was considerable public backlash in Taiwan after Japan’s earlier requests were made public. With this new refusal the 2011 ban remains in place.
