TEPCO Erects Mystery Platform Around Unit 2 Fukushima Daiichi

imageedit_1_2920726828 Among images provided by TEPCO of a recent visit to the disaster site by the Kashiwazaki mayor, was this photo. The full image (below) shows the tour looking out over the land side view of unit 2 from the hill. This is the opposite side of the building from where the blow out panel entry platform is located.

This new platform includes extensive stairwells and levels that run the length of the building. A vague mention of preparing the outside of unit 2 for eventual work to remove the refueling floor and replace it with a defueling building was mentioned in a recent NDF report. It is not clear if this is part of that work or something else. TEPCO has not provided any information about this that we have been able to obtain.
