TEPCO Uses New Laser Decontamination System At Fukushima Daiichi
TEPCO has deployed a laser decontamination system at Fukushima Daiichi. This new system is currently being used to decontaminate the interior of the old bolt together contaminated water tanks on site.
Little is mentioned about the system. TEPCO did state that it provided a slight improvement in reducing contamination vs. spraying paint over the surfaces to trap contamination. We do not know exactly how it works, who created it or if it could be used in other ways at the disaster site.
