Russia has attacked the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. Both Energoatom and the IAEA are reporting this incident.

- None of the critical for nuclear safety and security were destroyed
- The plant is still operating on diesel backup generators
- At least 12 missiles hit the plant
- Overpasses for for staff were damaged
- Chemical desalinated water storage tanks were damaged
- The steam generator purge system was damaged

IAEA inspectors said they could see the blasts from their office windows at the plant. The agency issued a number of frustrated statements about the ongoing situation at the plant after the attack.
The apparent motivation by Russia was to prevent Ukrainian staff from restarting reactors 5 and 6 at low power to provide steam to the boiler heat system that provides heat to the nearby town.
