Safecast drive into Fukushima

Safecast is the citizen group that has been taking readings all over the region near Fukushima Daiichi. They arm citizen members with radiation detectors and equip cars with detectors so they can drive and take readings. Safecast’s data has been largely the only information outside the government to document where the radiation is going.

Safecast members recently took a drive into Fukushima and the results were downright scary. While some areas had moderate radiation other areas had dangerously high levels. The levels would even vary from one side of the road to another where one side was a  moderate level and the other sky high.

Read about the entire trip here. Safecast is also looking for donations, if you can kick in a few dollars they are a worthy endeavor that runs on a modest budget. They are the only information citizens in the region are getting about radiation levels.
