Cracks Found In North Anna Nuclear Plant Containment
Cracks were found in the containment building of the North Anna nuclear plant in Virginia. Dominion Energy is attempting to downplay these cracks. No additional detail has been released by the NRC yet. North Anna is built over a fault line that was found and suppressed by the power station owners during construction. The licensing and operating extension at North Anna have been highly controversial since the 1970’s due to this known problem. Dominion also stated today they they may not repair the upright fuel storage casks that moved 4.5 inches off their mounts during the quake. No reason was given why the company would chose not to reseat their fuel storage casks.
