Fukushima Evacuation Zone Debris To Be Incinerated

NHK is reporting that work will begin in the portion of Minamisoma that was part of the evacuation zone to remove and burn debris created by the quake and tsunami. 

While the debris removal is needed, authorities again have chosen to incinerate the debris. This has caused widespread outrage and local protests around Japan when debris from outside the evacuation zone was burned. People raised concerns that the debris might be contaminated and burning it could release radioactive contamination into the air.

Locals in towns that have burned debris from outside the evacuation zone have claimed they saw atmosphere levels of radiation go up. The dust or ash created by the incineration has been found to contain high levels of cesium 137. So far we have not been able to find any testing being done by the government or any organized institution on the potential for releases to the air from the actual incineration.
