Fukushima Unit 4 Fuel Removal Delayed 1 Week Due To Crane Failure

U4_fuelremoval_131121_05The control mechanism for the overhead crane in the defueling building at Fukushima Daiichi unit 1 failed. TEPCO is reporting it could take a week to get the crane back into service. This is a brand new crane installed in 2013 when the defueling building was built to remove the spent fuel from unit 4.
