2nd ALPS Decontamination System Installed At Fukushima Daiichi

A second ALPS decontamination system is being installed at Fukushima Daiichi and will begin test operations in early September. NRA announced the new system yesterday. The first ALPS system, designed by Toshiba has been plagued with problems that required around a year of testing operations to make it work properly.

Another system in testing phases at the plant is a new Hitachi system that would remove some of the isotopes that ALPS can not.
