Radioactive Japanese Tea Found In Hong Kong
Hong Kong’s government Center For Food Safety, found a series of radioactive Japanese tea samples in 2014.
The findings are just slightly lower than findings from previous years of 2012 and 2013 by the same agency. Hong Kong officials seized the tea shipments from the importers for disposal so these products found did not make it to market. It does not appear that Hong Kong tests every shipment that comes in but likely spot tests products. These contaminated teas would have been allowed for sale in both the US and Japan as those two countries have higher intervention limits where they would consider pulling products off the market.
