New Contaminated Japanese Tea Found In Taiwan

radteaTaiwan’s FDA published some new radiation testing results in the last week. On June 16, 2015 they found two samples of Japanese teas with cesium contamination.

One was a “roasted” Japanese tea that tested at 18.8 bq/kg of combined cesium
The second was a Japanese tea blend of matcha green tea and brown rice, that product tested at 9.5 bq/kg.

While both samples were under the levels where Japan or Taiwan would pull the products off the market, they do show that some foods continue to be contaminated. These tests were done after Taiwan raised their import requirements on foods from Japan.
