Fukushima Unit 3 Fuel Crane To Be Removed This Week
TEPCO plans to remove the remains of the fuel crane from the pool this week using a special pair of hooks this week. Other work will be suspended at the plant while this takes place. TEPCO halted work on the unit 3 spent fuel pool when it was discovered that the crane was close to the fuel gate. Additional work was conducted to estimate the condition of the gate and the chances of damaging it during the removal.
Once this crane is removed TEPCO should be able to move ahead with removing smaller debris from inside the pool.
