Japan Calls For 10% Winter Power Conservation, “Warm Biz” Kicks Off
Japan is calling for a 10% reduction in power use over the winter in western Japan. The Ministry of the Environment is calling for people to do “Warm Biz” efforts similar to the “Cool Biz’ efforts this summer to lessen the use of air conditioning. People are asked to lower their heat to 20c and try to not use heaters. Layering clothes was also suggested to help keep heat use down. Officials also asked for people to avoid power use during peak times.
Government officials said the larger challenge will again come in summer.
