Unit 2 Back Above 70 Degrees, TEPCO Manipulating Data

Detailed temperature logs show unit 2’s sensor is going above 70 degrees twice recently. Once late on 23:00 February 8 and again at 5am February 9.

On the newest press report TEPCO cites the 5am temperature as being 67.9 c rather than 70.6c, the actual temperature recorded at 5am.  How TEPCO came to that number is not clear, it is not an average of the readings between time slots on their simplified temperature log. The document that shows the two spikes to 70 degrees is not being advertised in TEPCO’s press materials page though it exists on their public website.

We also spotted discrepancies in later temperature reports for Feb 9th 17:00, where one shows 65.6c and the other shows 67.9c again with the simplified temperature log showing the lower temperature and being the one promoted to the public. We are at a loss to explain the discrepancies or what adjustments TEPCO could be making to justify these lower readings they are posting in press releases.

If the more detailed temperature logs are to be believed, the temperatures at unit 2 are still fluctuating into the 70 degree range.
