80% Of Japan Does Not Trust Govt. On Nuclear Safety
An Asahi poll over the weekend showed that 80% do not trust the government on nuclear safety and 57% oppose reactor restarts in Japan.
Japanese politicians have been pushing hard for reactor restarts in recent weeks. This may be a very hard sell with the public so clearly distrustful and opposed.
Prime minister Noda has vowed to push for reactor restarts but lack of local support needed for restarts may still stop such a plan.
The 80% lack of faith in government safety is significant to see such a public consensus on anything. Fukushima has quite obviously woke up people in Japan.
