A Curious Edit By TEPCO On Unit 4
This photo by TEPCO was spotted with a very poor quality attempt to block out part of the photo. The original can still be found on TEPCO’s site here.
Why TEPCO would edit out this portion of the building is both perplexing and raises suspicions about what they are attempting to hide from the public.
Our photo records show the location to be the garage doorway of the building. The original long garage stall that was attached to the building was blown out by the blast at unit 4. The broken garage stall was later removed. In the edited photo the recently installed outside elevator can be seen off to the right. The location of the garage doorway can be identified by simply counting the upright gridwork of the building frame. The garage doorway sits in the second “space” to the left from the right end of the building. Below are some of our older photos that show the location that was blocked out.

Here the building can be seen in early 2012 with part of the upper floors removed. The doorway of the garage stall (now removed) can be seen clearly in this image. TEPCO decided to block this out in the recent image yet it is available here,

There has been some bowing in the wall above the garage doorway. In an August 2012 report it showed slight changes to the bowing but damage to the doorway is not specifically mentioned and there isn’t a wall survey for the 1st floor.

The wall movement is in millimeters so the distortion isn’t huge. It does raise questions about why TEPCO opted to block out the garage doorway of the reactor building. The garage doorway is between R5 and R6 on the left side diagrams.
