TEPCO has been progressing on work at Fukushima Daiichi to deal with units 3 and 4. The reactor (RPV) cap was removed from the top of unit 4. It appears TEPCO has removed all of the large heavy gear that had been sitting on the top west floor of the damaged reactor building. This removal should help with building stability.
Work at unit 3 involved looking into the spent fuel pool as they prepare to begin removing debris from what is left of the refueling deck. Most of the images were looking at the pieces of metal roof trussing that are in or around the pool. The debris removal at 3 could be much more complicated than at unit 4 as debris in unit 3 in tangled and may be intertwined with larger debris that fell into the pool.
