Leader Of Fukushima 50 Final Tribute In Tokyo

yoshidafuneralThe public funeral for Masao Yoshida was held yesterday. The funeral was attended by many from TEPCO’s leadership and both former PM Kan and current PM Abe.

More than 1000 were in attendance. A photo of Yoshida in his work uniform along with a towel and megaphone from the Hanshin Tigers, his favorite baseball team.

After Yoshida’s death TEPCO had made efforts to try to blame him for the inadequate tsunami protections at the plant. The independent journalist who interviewed him before his health began to fail documented otherwise.

Yoshida was the one who had been pushing strongly for tsunami countermeasures at Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant and trying to obtain hard evidence of a large tsunami to persuade the local municipalities to build a large seawall for the plant.”

At least some of the workers from the Fukushima 50 were in attendance. Worker Sunny tweeted about being at the funeral.
