Unit 2 Containment Pressure Drops In Half

Unit 2 containment pressure dropped by about half yesterday. TEPCO cites closing a valve allowed the pressure to slightly regain inside containment. TEPCO does not explain clearly why the valve was open and if it was intended to be that way. They state that none of the monitoring posts increased.

TEPCO’s cited changes in pressure:

<Changes in Unit 2 reactor containment pressure>
00 minutes 11:00 pm, the 23rd August: = 13.19Kpa g
40 minutes 11:00 am, the 24th August (valve closed after operation) =  6.62Kpa g:
3:00 pm:the 24th-August  = 7.18Kpa g

<Changes in the flow rate of the Unit 2 reactor containment vessel gas management system>
00 minutes 11:00 pm, the 23rd August: = 16.03Nm3 / h
40 min 11:00 am, the 24th August (valve closed after the operation): = 12.66Nm3 / h
00 min 3:00 pm the 24th-August: = 12.66Nm3 / h

We did notice that the incoming nitrogen pressure dropped around Aug 13th though TEPCO has said they are not injecting nitrogen recently.

The pressure graph below shows where the drop occurred
