Japan No Nukes Groups Receive Cyber Attack, Death Threats
33 groups, most of them anti-nuclear groups in Japan have received cyber attacks. The attacks began in September and are continuing against some groups. At least one group received a fairly specific death threat among the flood of email garbage.
The groups have hired a lawyer but pinning down who is doing these attacks may be more difficult. Whatever entity is doing them has been using a TOR program to hide the source of the attacks.
Asahi Shimbun cited one email with a specific threat but didn’t mention what group received it:
“One e-mail read, “Unless we kill all of the anti-nuclear believers, world peace will be never achieved.”
This is certainly not the only effort to harass or intimidate anti-nuclear groups or activists in Japan or elsewhere.
