Fukushima Unit 3 Crane To Be Removed From Pool August 2nd
The remains of the unit 3 fuel handling crane will be removed from the spent fuel pool August 2nd. TEPCO has not released further information on the decision to do this work on a weekend during a traditional summer holiday time. They have claimed to be taking worker safety more seriously. TEPCO has not specifically cited any expected radiation release with the crane removal. The work is risky due to the proximity to the fuel in the pool and one of the two pool gates that keeps the pool from partially draining.
