Typhoon Nangka Could Cross Fukushima Daiichi
Typhoon Nangka is expected to run across the main Japanese island of Honshu over the weekend. The storm is currently a category 1 storm and not expected to intensify but it could bring heavy rains. The Fukushima Daiichi disaster site is within the possible path. Recent rains have shown that there is a clear mechanism for contamination to migrate when there is precipitation at the site. Debris and dirt wash out of the site and into the ocean with even moderate rain. NRA has forced TEPCO to report such findings from the plant drainage systems within the last year.
