Fukushima Unit 1 Cover Removal Completed
TEPCO has reported that the last sections of the cover over unit 1 have been removed. The next phase is expected to be removal of the roof debris from the top refueling floor.
Through the process of removing the cover panels there have been multiple boundary dust monitor alarms at the plant. Each time TEPCO claimed the wind was blowing from offsite and that the only contaminant found was bismuth 214. This seemed unlikely considering the high levels of contamination outside the plant grounds from the disaster.
